Today, we introduced the element of ‘tempo’ in Music. Children practised a song called ‘Grandpa’s strolling down the Avenue’ and performed it to encompass movements with increasing tempo. E.g. ‘friends are running down the avenue.’ We clapped a beat to the speed of the people’s movements and worked in groups to create our own verses with matching tempos. Children came up with ideas such as, ‘bunnies hopping down the avenue,’ ‘cows herding down the avenue’ and ‘ball rolling down the avenue.’
